Sculpture StatementMy current work includes two bodies of work. One is a conceptual commentary on environmental issues. The other is a transcendent of the container and my "T" series. Both are derived from a collection of images and thoughts from places and events. The work has evolved through deconstruction and reconstruction, along with a continuing emphasis on two opposing forces: the organic and the mechanical. It aims to merge and integrate the two in one cohesive form. The porcelain is wheel thrown, altered, and high fired. Some pieces are airbrushed with metallic lustres. The mixed media includes acrylic blocks, photos and drawings embedded as transparencies, gears, found objects, machinery, and electrical parts. |
